Abstinence Education Works?!

For alcohol apparently.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that parents who let their kids drink in a supervised setting were more likely to develop problems around alcohol later in life.

Alcohol and use thereof is a huge issue on college campuses, and often times we’re dealing with people who are coming from all different backgrounds in terms of alcohol use. Some have abstained, some have partied without their parents knowledge, some have drank with their parents. Personally, I always assumed that drinking with parents acknowledgement was the best compromise, but the study says…

Of course as the Introduction to Research taught me, there are lots of ways for studies to be biased or untrue. I haven’t read the study itself (I’m swamped in work, which is why we haven’t been updating!), but it should prove interesting reading.
