Our member of the week for Winter Quarter Week 10 is Therese Credle!
Where do you work and what do you do?
1) Graduate Assistant Program Coordinator & Advisor Albers School of Business & Economics at SEATTLE UNIVERSITY. I provide supervision and programming for the Albers New Student Mentor program, conduct academic advising with Albers undegraduate students, and assist with event planning for Albers undergraduate events when needed.
2) University of Washington, Tacoma Career Development Assistant
I conduct career advising with transitioning military service members from Joint Base Lewis McChord. I specialize in providing and interpreting the Focus 2 career assessment and inspire career discernment with transitioning service members to help them identify a fulfilling career path. This position is one of the ways that UWT is supportive of community engagement and higher education.
Interesting fact about you:
I am a part of the first inaugural class of the University of California, Merced, my undergraduate institution. GO BOBCATS!
How do you de-stress?
I schedule time for self-care by going to the gym at least 3 days a week. I also meet with an awesome bible study group, which keeps me grounded.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I envision myself in a Director’s role for a student support program in either TRIO, Summer Search, or EOP (Educational Opportunity Program). These programs focus on providing support, mentorship, and retention for underserved and historically underrepresented student populations; an area of student affairs that I am passionate about. I also envision having a balanced personal and professional life that invests commitment in family life, ongoing professional development, and being appreciative of each day that I am granted.
What would you like to see within SUSDA?
I am a commuter student, so I do not often have time to meet in Seattle. SUDSA has been great about keeping SDA students aware of events, but a committee that considers the commuter student experience would be appreciated. Possibly, identifying commuter SDA students and connecting them could be helpful in establishing a more engaged student experience for commuters like me.
